Lehrveranstaltungen – Uncertainty Quantification for Engineers
The new elective course „Uncertainty Quantification for Engineers (UQE)“ is now available at LTM. This course introduces students to the diverse and miraculous world of randomness, probabilistic and uncertain structures, and stochastic and fuzzy mechanics. There are no strict requirements for students; however, basic knowledge of FEM and Probability Theory/Statistics could be beneficial.
Nowadays, it is clear that any engineering calculation involves some level of randomness, as there are no exact and ideal geometries in nature, no homogeneous materials without voids or microcracks, and real loading conditions are subject to uncertainty. Making accurate engineering calculations today means being able to incorporate these imprecisions into the simulation. This is the main subject of the discipline known as uncertainty quantification.
